The Plan W coaches were built by Werkspoor between 1966 and 1968 and were primarily used as reinforcement coaches.

The complete series consisted of 50 coaches, all of which were built as second-class coaches. In practice, Plan W coaches almost always operated together with other types of coaches, either in fixed train sets or in regular passenger services.

They were often combined with rolling stock from the Plan D and Plan E series, and later also with coaches such as ICK and ICR. These coaches are currently readily available as H0 scale models. Our Plan W coach completes a train consist!
